Another New Year's Day

The first day of the new year started out in single digit temps with about an inch of snow on the ground. It should get up to a balmy 26 degrees by the afternoon, with the potential for more snow flurries throughout the day. Whiskey got me up at 4:50 am and I wasn't ready to leave those flannel sheets, but we cranked up all the thermostats and snuggled in front of the propane stove in the kitchen to start the day. I didn't see even a hint of daylight behind the trees until just before 7 am. At least there's no wind today.

I have a number of craft projects started, none of them close to being finished, but that's kind of how I like to live. I'm still formulating a plan but after almost 3 years in Maine, cultivating a homestead and learning new skills, I'm ready to birth a new business. I thought it would just be flower farming, but now I'm branching into products made with those flowers and I'm more excited than ever.

I always make resolutions and promptly discard them when they are no longer interesting, but this year I decided to just make broader defined resolutions, so it's easier to stick to them. My resolutions are simple: daily meditation, walking, creativity and focus.

Tonight I'll burn the last of my 2026 hand written intentions and look forward to reading the final one tomorrow. Lots of new things coming this year.
